Exceptions do exist, however, along with less obvious examples of the form - a combination of both features being Cross Foxes (a name most commonly found in rural Wales), referring to a darker-furred breed of the common Red Fox whose pelts were considered more valuable and sometimes worn as a sign of status. A white hart featured as a badge of King Richard II, while a red lion was a badge of John of Gaunt and a blue boar of the Earls of Oxford. Animal names coupled with colours, such as White Hart and Red Lion, are often heraldic. Names like Fox and Hounds, Dog and Duck, Dog and Gun, Hare and Hounds, etc., refer to shooting and hunting. Similarly, other archaic spellings such as "olde worlde" are not distinguished below. Its later forms resembled a blackletter y, and it was never pronounced with a y sound. "Y" represents an obsolete character ( þ, the letter Thorn, which is nowadays used only in Icelandic) for the th sound. 14 The pub itself (including nicknames)Īlthough the word "the" appears on much pub signage, it is ignored in the following examples the word "ye' is likewise ignored as it is only an archaic spelling of "the".with the griffins banner though 90hit points per 56 leadership is alot of damage soaking and 5-10 damage is only slightly below average. I feel like the least effective of the troops I used was probably the griffins because they have below average damage. overall I will have a hard time not using thorn-hunters in my next playthrough. being a plant you cant ressurect them and they take double fire damage which are tough downsides too. of course they have less initiative than alot of ranged attackers and they take a long range damage penalty for shooting from more than 5tiles away which is pretty short range, but even with the penalty they hit hardest. if you add in ishara's whip and the dryad morale bonus thorn hunters are pretty rediculous. with the crown on thorn hunters did double the damage of the cannoneers triple shot. the cannoneer triple shot did about the same damage as the thorn hunter basic attack when I took the crown of briarthorn off. I just did some battles using both thorn hunters and dwarf cannoneers. I've done some comparisons and there is realy no other ranged attacker that can match thorn-hunter damage. thorn-warriors got 2.9% with zero hired, they were all summoned by either the dryads or the thorn-hunters. My team of Sea dogs, Thorn-hunters, Royal snakes, Griffins, and dryads was intact for most of the game but for a stretch while in elf territory I took out royal snakes for unicorns because I didnt want to cross the ocean an extra time to replenish my royal snakes, and I replaced thorn hunters with unicorns when I got to haas labyrinth because my thorn hunter supply ran out. I had Mirabella boosting the Sea dogs damage, the crown of briarthorn boosting the thorns damage, and the griffin banner reducing the griffins leadership. Sea dogs were my most effective troop with 37.3%, then Thorn-hunters with 24.5%, then Royal Snakes with 13.9%, then Griffins with 10.9% then Thorn-warriors with 2.9%, then unicorns with 2.1% and then dryads with 1.9%. On my most recent game, a warrior on hard, 85% of my damage was done by troops, 1% by spells, and 14% by spirits of rage. In the high score records after you beat it it lists the damage breakdown and I'm curious what some other players damage breakdowns look like. I've used the same troops alot so I'm looking for some fresh ideas on what troops to use and wondering if anyone who has beaten the game has had a troop dominate their damage as much as mine.

Once as a warrior on normal, twice as a warrior on hard, and once as a paladin on hard. I've now played this game through 4 times. Recently I completed the game with a warrior on hard difficulty.
